Shore Conversations

In mid 2019 we had an idea. Historic Onancock School wanted to launch a series of conversations to share the proud generational history of Virginia's Eastern Shore through engaging oral history presentations to enjoy, learn and preserve stories and legends that are part of the culture of our community.

Onancock Business & Civic Association (OBCA) supported our idea with funding to proceed. Fast forward past a pandemic, 2021 brought another opportunity from Virginia Humanities Sharp Grant to make this a reality.

This first series focuses on several professions that are vital to the Eastern Shore. Farming, Watermen, Education and Small family business all integral to the backbone of shore history. We video taped them for your enjoyment.
